Welcome to the Pisa Page!
Pisa was one of my favorite places to visit. It wasn't one of those places that you would make a whole trip out of, but if your planning on visiting the region of Tuscany, Pisa is a must see.
The town of Pisa is definately overshadowed by the amazing sight of the Leaning Tower. This structure is awesome. Today, you can't go into it, for it is leaning a bit too much. Although, back in the 80's the tower was filled with tourists hungry to climb the historic steps.
The tower was built on unstable ground. There is speculation that the tower was deliberately built on the ground, because the structure wasn't as grand as others of it's time. Another support for that arguement is the fact that the people of the time had great knowledge of the ground, and where to build.
Pisa is a great place to buy gifts. There are many places to buy gifts, ranging from little stands, to chic stores. The gifts at the little stands are great for friends, but if you're in search for the family gift, or for the boss, you need to check out the stores.
Hai Fame? That's Italian for, "are you hungry?" There are many places to nibble in Pisa. There is a pizzeria, with some great pizza, right across from the Leaning Tower. If you don't want any pizza, but want to nibble on something, there are many snack stands. The snacks range from hard candy to honey roasted almonds. Those almonds are outstanding, try some!
If you are going to Florance, or anywhere in the region of Tuscany, don't forget to make a day trip out to see the legendary Leaning Tower of Pisa.
